Den Deutschen sind Somalia und seine Hauptstadt Mogadischu wohl vor
allem aufgrund der Flugzeugentführung durch RAF-Terroristen 1977 und den
gleichnamigen Fernsehthriller ein Begriff. Der V-förmige Staat an der Ostspitze
Afrikas befindet sich seit langem im akuten Bürgerkrieg zwischen diversen
verfeindeten Clans. Ein weiteres Problem, das regelmäßig in den Nachrichten
auftaucht, ist die Piraterie vor den Küsten Somalias. Alles in allem eines der
instabilsten Länder der Welt. Einer der bekanntesten Somalier ist der Musiker K’naan,
der mit „Waving Flag“ den offiziellen Titelsong zur WM 2010 in Südafrika
beisteuerte. Kurioserweise ist es in Somalia, dessen Name wörtlich übersetzt
etwa „Geh und melke!“ lautet, gesetzlich verboten, sich Kaugummi auf die
Nasenspitze zu kleben.
Man kann sich denken, dass in einem Land mit einem Haufen von Problemen
der Fußball zur absoluten Nebensache wird. Seit 1963 trägt Somalia offiziell Länderspiele
aus und hat dabei in aller Regelmäßigkeit standesgemäß eine Niederlage nach der
anderen kassiert (zum Beispiel ein herbes 0:14 für die "Ocean Stars" in ihrem ersten Länderspiel überhaupt
gegen Nordkorea). In der WM-Qualifikation für Brasilien 2014 trotzten die
Somalier Äthiopien im Hinspiel immerhin ein 0:0 ab, ehe man sich im Rückspiel
deutlich mit 0:5 geschlagen geben musste. Der wertvollste Spieler Somalias ist
derzeit Angreifer Ayub Daud, der in Ungarn bei Honvéd Budapest kickt.
Mein Somalia-Trikot habe ich dankenswerterweise erneut von Sascha bekommen.
Es handelt sich dabei vermutlich um das Alternativ-Trikot von 2012. Da es
nahezu unmöglich ist, ein Bild des Trikots in Benutzung aufzutreiben, habe ich
nur ein Bild des dazugehörigen hellblauen Heimtrikots gefunden – allerdings
ohne Wappen. Die Farbkombination aus kräftigem Gelb mit dem hellen Blau gefällt
mir ausgesprochen gut, allerdings fällt das Trikot, nach Angaben des
Herstellers immerhin eine Größe L, extrem klein aus. Wie dem auch sei – ich
begrüße eine weitere Rarität in meiner bescheidenen Sammlung.

We Germans know Somalia and its capital
Mogadischu mainly because of the hi-jacking by RAF terrorist in 1977 and the
German TV movie of the same name. The V-shaped country on the eastern tip of
Africa finds itself in a long lasting civil war between lots of different antagonized
clans. Another big problem which appears
on the news very often is the piracy at the Somalian coast. On the whole,
Somalia is definitely one of the most instable countries on earth. One of the
most popular Somalis is musician K’naan whose hit “Waving Flag” became the
official title song of WC 2010 in South Africa. In Somalia, whose name
literally means something like “Go milking!”, it is forbidden to put a chewing
gum on your nose.
You can imagine that in a country
with that much problems, playing football is a minor matter. Since 1963 Somalia
plays official matches and mostly loses them (for example a terrible 0-14 in
the "Ocean Stars'" first match ever against North Korea). At least, they managed to draw by
0-0 against Ethiopia during WC qualifiers for Brazil 2014, until they lost the
rematch 0-5. The most valuable player of Somalia is actually striker Ayub Daud
who currently plays for Honvéd Budapest in Hungary.
Thankfully, I received my Somalia
shirt again from Sascha. It is possibly their alternative jersey from 2012. As
it is almost impossible to find a picture of it in use, I only managed to find
a picture of the appendant sky blue home shirt – though it has no badge on it.
I really love the color combination of a strong yellow with the light blue, but
I have to say that the shirt, whose outfitter gave it a seize L description, is
definitely far too tiny for me. Nevertheless – I salute another great rarity in
my moderate collection.
